Life as a teacher!

Well, it has been an interesting two weeks. Last week was a great week. I felt like my students were understanding me and I them. They were asking and answering questions and applying what I have been teaching them. With my highschool students I was able to have some conversations with them and learn more about them. My 2nd grade boys were actually enjoying class and participating. Then came this week. Monday I had 6th grade band and it was awefull, I cried after it was done. It is very hard for me to be extremely strict because I feel like I'm being mean, yet I have to be strict or the class is totally out of control. So throughout the whole week I've just been dreading today when I have band again. But by the Lord's grace they were much better behaved today and I was holding to my own rules and being strict but kind. I guess I realized that some days in life are easy and some are really hard. I don't know what to expect each day I walk into a class. Each week it is different, but I long to rest in the Lord more and rely on him each moment of each class for inspiration, patience and the ability to discipline as I need to promote learning and character growth (for both me and and my students).

Downtown Budapest, Hungary!

Below you will find a picture of Sarah, one of the girls who lives at the house where I live, and I waiting for the Volanbusz (the bus) to go to Budapest on Sunday morning. We went to mass at the Church in the picture, we thought it was going to be a concert, but it was just high mass (but the choir sang and the organ was played). Then walked around Fishermen's Bastion, which is a stone walkway, that overlooks the Danube river and Pest. The next picture is of my lunch, fried camembert cheese with rice and berry jam. It was amazingly delicious. I'm working on putting a video on here of a man playing a violin.

This week!

Well, this past week went rather well. I thought I would be going out of town this weekend to Croatia for a prayer retreat, but some of the people coming were not feeling well so it was canceled. It had been hard to find a sub anyway, and it was good to be with my students. I was able to plan ahead for next week since I thought I would be gone the whole weekend, so that was good. Next week is Spiritual emphasis week and I am in charge of a 10 minute chapel time each day. It did actually snow here last week but only about 1/2 of an inch. It has been cold this week and I've been grateful for rides to and from school through out the week. Oh, there is this great Greek resturante in Erd, which is the next town over, but still very close and it has very good food.
more later,
Hannah
